Autism Care Act (ACA)| Federal Government Committed to Autism

The Autism Community  enjoyed  victory this summer.   On July 31, 2014, across party lines, the  United States Senate voted to  unanimously pass the Autism Care Act.  The Senate joined Congress “in a clear and bipartisan message -- the federal government will not abandon three million Americans with autism in the midst of a public health crisis," said Autism Speaks President Liz Feld.  President Obama is expected to sign the Autism Care Act (ACA) into law, which, in part, provides for 1.3 billion dollars in Federal Funding over the next five years; coverage even if you or your child has a pre-existing condition, including a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and coverage of a minimum set of “essential health benefits” – including behavioral health treatment, [re] habilitative services, prescription drugs, and pediatric services.

Autism Speaks has published a helpful and free download of their  "Basic Guide to the Affodable Care Act & Autism Community."
